4H members donate water

The Northeast Arkansas Chapter American Red Cross is running very short of bottled water, according to Executive Director Pam Knapp-Carver.

4-H donates water to the Red Cross

"We need a supply of bottled water to be prepared for disasters of all kinds," she explained. "We pass them out to emergency responders and victims of disaster. Currently, we have almost no bottled water on hand."

Knapp-Carver explained the number of storms, flooding and single family fires the chapter has dealt with over the past several months has completely depleted the normal reserve supply.

The Mississippi County 4H program has begun a water drive to collect cases of water to be donated to the local Red Cross Chapter. The first donation of about a dozen cases of water was made recently, but much more is needed.

4H-ers will be collecting water donations through the summer. 4H members participating in either of the two summer camps will be asked to donate a case of water as a registration fee. Anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so by dropping off the water with any county 4H member. Water can also be dropped off at the Extension Service office or the Red Cross office in Blytheville. For more information contact the Red Cross at 763-4481.
