Lake City council fills position
Lake City aldermen voted unanimously to appoint Linda Stone to fill the vacant position for Ward I, Position 1 at the May 6 meeting. The position was vacant since February due to the resignation of Bill Snyder.
Mayor Jon Milligan presented the council with the monthly financial report for review.
Alderman Danny Dunigan requested the council receive this report instead of the two reports they are presently receiving.
Clerk Linda Simpson asked if all council members were in agreement with this request and all acknowledged they were. Beginning with the month of June the council will receive a Bank Register report which will show all activity and the balance on each checking account for the City.
The council discussed a memo sent to each council member about an error with the accounting software system which occurred when one system merged with the other. The problem has been corrected. It was a computing error and did not involve any of the financials or bank records. Documents were given to all council members and placed in a file for next year's audit and reviewed with this year's auditor who was present when City Clerk Linda Simpson found the error.
Simpson read a resolution authorizing Mayor Milligan to apply for a Cops Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The council adopted the Resolution unanimously.
The next council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, at city hall.
Mayor Milligan announced because of the rain during the scheduled city wide yard sale, there will be another yard sale June 6-8. No permits will be required during the city-wide sale date.
Mayor Milligan said he expects to receive GIF funds later this year and asked council members to report back on any ideas they have on how the city can use the money wisely.
