Buffalo Island Central East Elementary has career week

Buffalo Island Central East enjoyed Career Week. Visitors for the week included the Air Evac team that landed on the school grounds.

Students at Buffalo Island Central East Elementary celebrated career week Monday, April 22-26, with visitors throughout the week.

Some of the visitors included Heath Sanders; Charles Davis with the Leachville Fire Department; State Police Officers Brandon Trewyn and Ryan Lever; Members of Leachville Police Department; magician Tim McGowan and members of the AirEvac helicopter team based in Blytheville.

Students got a close-up look at the helicopter as it landed on the school grounds. The students had the opportunity to sit in the helicopter and visit with the pilot and medicalteam.

Joe Lawrence, a 1995 graduate of BIC High School, was the pilot. Other crew members at BIC were Tracey Burns, flight medic; David Honhsteinn, flight nurse; and Bill Reid, flight medic.

Pilot Joe Lawrence was greeted by his daughter, Katie, a fifth grade student at BIC East.

Friday the students dressed for their career choice.

The teachers and students expressed their appreciation to everyone who visited their school last week making career week successful.
