Lake City Council approves rezoning and variance
Lake City Council members approved property rezoning from R-1 to Agriculture and accepted a variance on property at the council meeting held Monday, April 15.
Alderman Harold Barker presented two recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Committee. Lee Beasley requested rezoning of property located adjacent to the Skylark Subdivision. Mrs. Beasley met all requirements necessary and a public hearing was held without any public opposition.
The second recommendation was from Donnie Hutcheson, husband of Alderman Brenda Hutcheson. Mr. Hutcheson requested a six foot variance to build a porch on property he owns at 709 Buffalo. With this variance the porch would be 37.5' from the center of the street. Council members approved the variance.
Mayor Jon Milligan asked council members to consider one of four individuals who had expressed an interest in the alderman's position, vacated by former Alderman Bill Snyder due to health reasons. The appointment was tabled until the next council meeting to be held Monday, May 6.
Mayor Milligan presented water rates to the council to review before the next council meeting.
A city wide yard sale will be held May 2-4, and May 5-10 is clean up week.
