Mississippi County Retired Teachers to meet

Mississippi County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Rivercrest High School.

Lunch will be served followed by a meeting.

All retired teachers and school employees are welcome to attend.

Caraway barbecue to benefit youth ball program

The Caraway Park Commission will hold a barbecue sale with Boston butts for $25 and chicken for $15. They will barbecue starting April 12 and pick up will be April 13 at the Caraway Ambulance Bay.

To place an order, call Susan Boone at (870)680-7530. Proceeds will go to the summer ball program.

Mock Wreck planned at MHS for April 12

A mock wreck near the Manila High School football field will be held at noon Friday, April 12.

It is a joint effort to make young people aware of the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Members of the Manila Police Department, Fire Department, Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, State Police, Emerson Ambulance, and Howard Funeral Service will be participating. If weather permits Air E-Vac helicopter will be arriving on the scene.

Manila Police Officer Jared Camp wants to let the community know about the event so they will not be alarmed by the sirens and law enforcement officers near the school on the day of the mock wreck.

Caraway Youth Fishing Rodeo May 4

Caraway Park commissioners announced the annual youth fishing rodeo will be held from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, May 4. Sign-up will be at 7 a.m.

The event will take place at the Caraway pond. All youth are invited to participate. There will be drawings throughout the morning.

Adams Estate to open for Mother's Day on May 11

Adams Estate in Leachville will be opened for mothers and others to enjoy the gardens from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

Tina Adams encourages people to bring their mothers and visit the gardens. They can have a picnic or just enjoy a walk in the gardens. A hanging flower basket will be given to the first 100 people who bring 10 or more canned goods to be donated to the NEA Food Bank.
