Rebels use big inning in 13-0 win over Mustangs
Riverside exploded for eight runs in the second inning, and went on to a 13-0 shutout victory over archrival Buffalo Island Central in 2A-3 conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Lake City.
Devon Austin picked up the win, blanking the Mustangs in the five inning contest. Austin gave up just four hits on the afternoon while helping himself at the plate with a pair of singles. Dylan Wright also had two hits for the Rebels, while Logan Meurer drove in a pair of runs.
Riverside pounded out a 12-2 victory Thursday at Marmaduke. Meurer led the Rebels, going 2-3 with two RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Wright had two singles and a run batted in while Devon Austin drove in two runs. Brandon Towery picked up the win, going five innings while scattering six hits. The freshman left hander struck out four and issued one walk.
Riverside (5-3, 3-2 2A-3) dropped a 6-1 decision Wednesday afternoon at McCrory. Cody Webb suffered the loss, despite giving up just two earned runs. Webb allowed seven hits while striking out eight Jaguars. Logan Meurer provided the Rebels with their only run, delivering an RBI double.
Riverside returns to the diamond Monday as the Rebels play host to East Poinsett County. The Rebels will entertain Rector Tuesday afternoon before closing out the week with a Thursday afternoon home contest against Marked Tree.
The Lady Rebels split a pair of games, drubbing Cross County 18-0 Tuesday afternoon at Wynne before losing Thursday afternoon at Marked Tree 12-1.
Taylor Archer threw a three inning no-hitter to pick up the win in Riverside's win over Cross County. Archer also blasted a pair of bases loaded triples and finished with six RBI on the day. Jordan Miller clubbed three hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Anna Brickell added a pair of singles and three RBI in support of Archer.
