Retired teachers and staff honored with luncheon

Manila teachers and staff were honored with a luncheon hosted by the Future Educators of America (FEA). Pictured are the retired teachers and staff and FEA students.

Manila High School Future Educators of America (FEA) hosted the annual luncheon for retired teachers and staff in the Manila School District.

The luncheon was held on Tuesday, March 12, in the school cafeteria. Students, under the direction of teacher Gerri McCann, welcomed the guests and served the lunch.

Ms. McCann expressed her appreciation to the teachers and staff for the years of service they contributed to education. The group had a combined 325 years of service.

Many teachers and students had the opportunity to welcome the retirees back to Manila School.

Attending were retired custodians Bertha Brooks (17 years), Peggy Brooks (14 years), Judy Hampton (16 years), and Betty Augustine (32 years). Retired teachers attending were Garry Jolliff (25 years), Willie Whitney (40 years), Donna McFarland (18 years), Carol Deaton (33 years), Jo Wheeler (32 years), Vada Adkins (27 years), and Zetta White (34 years). Retired cafeteria staff members included Betty Bruce (17 years) and Mary Lou Deaton (20 years).

The retirees thanked the students and Ms. McCann for the luncheon and the warm welcome.
