Clay Turner, All State Choir, and Kane Bradley, director of choirs Buffalo Island Central Public Schools.

On Friday, Feb. 1, Clay Turner of Buffalo Island Central High School attended All-State tryouts at First Baptist Church in Dover, Ark., to become a member of the All-State Choir.

Earlier in the school year, Clay and three other high school students, as well as seven junior high students made the Northeast All-Region choir. The Northeast Region extends to the state border on the north and east, to Forrest City on the south, and Everton on the west.

Of the senior high students who made the All-Region choir, Clay was the only one whose chair was high enough that allowed him to try out for All-State. He made the choir, achieving 17th chair on the Tenor I voice part.

The All-State convention will be held in Hot Springs Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 13-16, with a concert to be held beginning at noon Feb. 16.
