Rector rallies over Mustangs 74-57

Rector rallied past Buffalo Island Central for a 74-57 victory in 2A-3 conference basketball action Friday night.

The Mustangs held a 20-14 lead after the first period before taking a slim 33-32 edge into the dressing room at intermission. Rector outscored BIC 20-8 in the third quarter to take a 52-41 lead entering the final frame.

The Cougars placed four players in double figures, led by Daniel White's 18 points. Dillon Shelton and Mitchell Weber scored 13 points apiece while Alec Scott chipped in 10.

BIC (14-17, 5-11 2A-3) was led by Austin Pike, who pumped in a game high 21 points. Jacob Sanders added 10.

The Mustangs won the junior high game 52-48 to improve to 20-8 overall and 11-4 in conference play. BIC was led by Trey DePriest who scored 14 points while Ryan Austin added 10.

Rector's Lawson Ford led all scorers with a game high 24 points.

BIC will return to action Friday night when they travel to Manila to close out the regular season. The junior Mustangs will open 2A-3 district tournament play at 5:45 Monday at Monette.
