New Hope Baptist Church to present ministry teams for two performances

Thursday, January 31, 2013

New Hope Baptist Church in Caraway is excited to be able to bring two ministry teams from Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, Mo.

Pastor Heath Hawkins and his wife Candace are alumni of HLG, and are thrilled to introduce students in the area to this incredible Southern Baptist University.

HLG has an incredible past and for many years has been recognized by the International Mission Board and North American Mission Board as the "top" Southern Baptist mission sending school in the nation.

The two ministry teams include a drama team called "New Edition" and a praise and worship team called "Praise Song."

The community has two opportunities to see the two teams. At 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, the teams will lead a youth rally at the church. The following Sunday, Feb. 3, at 11:00, the teams will minister in the morning church service.

The New Edition is a traveling repertory troupe specializing in Christian theatre. The troupe leads creative worship in churches, conferences, and youth events, presenting challenging messages with a biblical foundation in a way that people clearly understand. The New Edition has performed across the United States and internationally, including Panama, Switzerland, and Hungary. They have the reputation of being one of the finest Christian college drama troupes in the nation.

Praise Song, an upbeat vocal and instrumental ensemble, travels throughout the Midwest several weekends a month. Ministering through song and testimony, they perform for worship services, conferences, banquets and youth rallies. Their program includes praise and worship music, traditional hymns and hits from the contemporary Christian music charts.

Pastor Hawkins commented, "We hope the community will come be part of one or both of these two services. I know that anyone who does will be blessed."

Both services are free, though a love offering will be collected on Sunday morning to help support the teams.
