Arkansas Highway Commission opens bids for improvements in Craighead County
LITTLE ROCK -- The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to a roadway in Craighead County.
The purpose of this project is to widen 1.11 miles of Highway 18 from two lanes to five lanes in Monette. The area is north of Black Oak along the Monette Bypass.
"This is another Highway 18 project to enhance travel between Jonesboro and Blytheville, the two major economic centers in northeast Arkansas," says Highway Commission Chairman John Ed Regenold.
Lakeside Contractors, LLC of Jonesboro, was awarded the contract at $4,008,133.41.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. Work should be complete in the fall.
