Buffalo Island Central jumped to an early lead and never looked back, rolling to a 58-39 victory over Riverside Monday night in 2A-3 senior girls action at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
Seniors Brittany Fowler and Cassidy Qualls led the Lady Mustangs with 15 points apiece. Katelyn Sparkman scored seven while Emily Owens, Brittany Stockton, Taylor McKuin and Shania Junyor all contributed four points apiece. Megan Webster tallied three and Hannah Poe added two points to round out the BIC offensive attack. BIC hit 12-19 foul shots and drilled six three pointers, led by Qualls who had three treys on the night.
Kenzley Wilson led the Lady Rebels with 13 points while Chelsea Nichols added 12. Gattlin Hale scored eight, Natalie Milligan pitched in three while Megan Davidson and Susan Sailor netted two and one point respectively. The Lady Rebels made eight of 13 free throws and nailed five three pointers.
In junior girls action, BIC (16-3, 10-0, 2A-3) held off Riverside 33-21, led by Blaire Wildy who scored a game high 16 points. Ashley Field and Kayla Griffin tallied seven points apiece while Curston Davis chipped in one point.
Skylar Kauke led the Lady Rebels with 15 points. Madison Black scored four while Hannah Fisher added two points.
The Lady Mustangs defeated McCrory 53-23 in senior girls play Thursday night on the road. Emily Owens led eleven Lady Mustangs in the scoring column with a team high 10 points. Katelyn Sparkman scored eight, Brittany Fowler netted seven while Rachel Goldammer, Megan Webster and Brittany Stockton added five points each. Taylor McKuin tallied four, Madison Greathouse pitched in three while Cassidy Qualls, Cidnie Brooks and Shania Junyor chipped in two points each.
Michelle Clark led the Lady Jaguars with 10 points.
BIC also claimed the junior high contest 33-21. Blaire Wildy paced the Mustangs with 15 points while Ashley Field scored 10. Kayla Griffin netted four while Jona Carmichael and Molly Hart added two points apiece.
Ashlyn Rogo led McCrory with 12 points.
BIC, ranked number one in the state in 2A, will hit the hard court Monday night when they travel to Cherry Valley to take on Cross County in 2A-3 conference action. The Lady Mustangs will journey to Lepanto Thursday night to take on East Poinsett County in another 2A-3 conference battle.
