Riverside placed four players in double figures and the Rebels went on to take care of archrival Buffalo Island Central 67-46 in a 2A-3 conference clash Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
The Rebels spurted to a 15-4 lead after the opening period and held a 36-26 advantage at the half. Riverside took a 49-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
Caleb Waugh led Riverside (15-9, 7-3, 2A-3) with a game high 19 points. Logan Meurer drilled four three pointers on his way to a 16 point effort. Alteeno Sain and Dylan Wright both had double-doubles, each scoring 12 points while grabbing 11 rebounds apiece. Kollin Stone had four points and 11 boards. Brock Adams tallied two while Jacob Jordan and Ben Hensley added one point apiece. The Rebels hit just 11-23 free throws but drained eight treys on the night.
Austin Pike led the Mustangs with 13 points while Nick Bollinger chipped in 11 more. Devon Ballin scored eight, Jacob Sanders and Alan Carmichael contributed five points apiece while Alex Ballin added four. BIC connected on only eight of 20 free throws and made six three pointers.
Riverside also won the junior high contest with a 44-26 victory over the Mustangs. Gavin Stone and Braden Overman both notched double digits, scoring 13 and 10 points respectively to lead the Rebels. Luke Baker had nine, Dylan Davis tallied six while Andrew Murdie and Branden Towery pitched in four points apiece.
Dustyn Myers and Trey DePriest led the Mustangs with 10 points apiece. Cory Turner scored four while Trevor Couch added two points.
Riverside jumped to a 17-8 lead after the first period and held a 23-18 halftime edge. The Rebels stretched their lead to 33-22 after three quarters of play.
Riverside will return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Rector in 2A-3 conference play. The Rebels will host Augusta Friday night at Lake City in another conference tilt.
The Lady Rebels whipped Black Rock 70-30 in senior girls action Thursday night at Lake City. Kenzley Wilson pumped in a game high 23 points to lead Riverside. Catlyn Sailor scored 11 while Natalie Milligan chipped in 10 points. Christian Ervin led the Lady Zebras with 13 points. The victory improved Riverside's record to 9-12 on the year.
The Lady Rebels will take on Rector Monday night and Augusta Thursday night in a pair of 2A-3 conference contests, both at Lake City.
