Lions take out Mohawks, fall to Seminoles
Manila picked up a key 3A-3 conference road victory 69-56 over Piggott Friday night behind Scott Eubanks' 23 point and 16 rebound performance. The Lions improved to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play with the win.
Brady Jones pumped in 16 points while Caleb Reinhart and Dustin Sirmon added 13 and 11 points respectively as the Lions placed four players in double digits.
Manila held a slim 12-10 edge after the opening period before taking a 34-24 advantage into the dressing room at intermission. The Lions maintained a 10 point cushion, 49-39, entering the final frame.
Logan Murray paced the Mohawks with 23 points while Will Jett added 13 more.
The Lions began the week with a 63-58 loss at Osceola. Tamas Bruce led the Seminoles with 18 points while Korliss Marshall scored 14 and Quaylen Estell pitched in 12.
Scott Eubanks led Manila with a game high 23 points while Dylan Bogle and Dustin Sirmon added 11 points each. Brady Jones was held to a season low seven points. Caleb Reinhart scored four while Zac Riley chipped in two points.
Osceola led 15-8 after the opening quarter before pushing its lead to 31-19 at the half. The Seminoles held a 46-35 advantage after the third quarter.
In junior high action, Osceola smothered Manila 61-25. The Seminoles led 20-2 after the first quarter, 30-15 at the half and 53-21 after three periods of play.
Jake Helton and Miles Gifford led the Lions with five points each. Matthew May and Jeremiah May scored four points apiece. Bradley Woodall netted three points while Logan Hamilton and Gaige Edwards chipped in two points each.
The Lions will return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Corning to take on the Bobcats in a 3A-3 conference tilt. Manila will play host to Harrisburg Friday night in another conference matchup.
