Manila rallied from a 27 point first half deficit for an improbable 68-67 come from behind victory over Portageville, Mo., Tuesday night at Manila.
Scott Eubanks scored with 14 seconds left to give the Lions the victory. Eubanks finished the night with a game high 30 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Brady Jones pitched in 21 points, 16 of which came in the second half of play.
Manila (7-3) trailed 26-17 after the opening period and fell behind 50-27 at the half. The Lions came out smoking in the third quarter, outscoring Portageville 18-4 to pull within 54-45 entering the final frame. Manila continued its second half run, outscoring their guests from Missouri 23-13 in the fourth period to cap off the comeback.
Buffalo Island Central watched as Rector's Daniel White sank two free throws in the closing seconds to give the Cougars a 58-57 win over the Mustangs Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.
Alec Scott led Rector with a game high 24 points, including four treys, while Reed Weber pitched in 13 more.
BIC was led by Austin Pike who finished with 16 points while teammates Jacob Sanders and Alan Carmichael chipped in 15 and 10 points respectively.
The junior Mustangs improved to 16-5 and a perfect 6-0 in 2A-3 conference play with a 44-40 win over the Cougars. Jerry Cazares contributed a double-double for the Mustangs, scoring 15 points while coming away with 11 steals. Dustyn Myers tallied 13 points while Ryan Austin chipped in 11.
Jammar Sturdivant poured in 32 points to lead East Poinsett County to a 78-57 victory over Riverside Tuesday night at Lake City. EPC, who remained unbeaten in league play, also got 19 points from freshman Malik Monk.
Riverside (12-8, 5-3 2A-3) was led by Logan Meurer who scored 16 points. Alteeno Sain tallied 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while Kollin Stone added 11 points.
The junior Warriors pulled out a 35-24 victory over Riverside, behind Clay Malone's 15 point performance. Gavin Stone led Riverside with 12 points.
Emily Owens pumped in 20 points to lift Buffalo Island Central to a hard fought 50-41 victory over Rector Monday night at the MAC. The Lady Mustangs (18-3, 7-1 2A-3) also got eight points and 10 rebounds from senior guard Brittany Fowler while Brittany Stockton finished with eight points and nine boards.
Anna Blackshare led Rector with 15 while Kendall Gunn chipped in 11 points.
The junior Lady Mustangs improved to 13-3 overall and 7-0 in conference action with a 39-27 victory over Rector. Ashley Field led BIC with 10 points.
Riverside fell to EPC 52-44 in senior girls action Monday night at Lake City.
Teria Young led the Lady Warriors with 26 points while Alicia Ross pitched in 22 more. Kenzley Wilson led Riverside with 24 points while Lauren Weaver scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Riverside won the junior girls game 26-17.
