BIC Board discuss testing

The Buffalo Island Central School Board met Monday, Dec. 17, discussing several topics.

Each building principal reported to the board about test results and efforts in progress to improve scores in their respective buildings.

Building security measures and ways to improve security were also discussed. Topics concerning security included monitoring systems, traffic in and out of various buildings and outside resources to provide training and resources for both students and employees.

Financial statements and warrant listings were reviewed and approved unanimously by the board.

Board Member Jason Stewart moved to approve corrections to the 2012-2013 school budget concerning school property/vehicle insurance and declining enrollment funding. The motion carried unanimously.

The board approving the district contract with Little & Associates of Jonesboro for architectural services.

The Board directed Superintendent George Holland to seek applicants for an additional school nurse position. The district currently has a full time and part-time nurse and wishes to change to two full time positions.
