Buffalo Island Central picked up a pair of victories last week, defeating Marked Tree 75-58 Tuesday night before easing past Weiner 47-39 Friday night.
BIC (12-9, 3-4 2A-3) jumped to an 18-14 lead over the Indians and led 35-28 at the half. The Mustangs took a 49-44 edge into the final frame. BIC outscored Marked Tree 26-14 in the final period to secure the win.
Austin Pike poured in a game high 28 points to lead the Mustangs. Nick Bollinger scored 20 while Jacob Sanders chipped in 18.
Allen Buchanan led the Indians with 24 points while Terry Carter added 11 more.
Nick Bollinger's 17 point performance propelled the Mustangs past the Cardinals Friday night. Austin Pike added 10 points while Jacob Sanders scored nine while dishing out six assists. The Mustangs rallied from a two point halftime deficit, outscoring Weiner 30-27 in the second half to pull out the win.
In junior high action, BIC improved to 14-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play with a 54-35 victory over Marked Tree.
Dustyn Myers led BIC with 14 points while Ryan Austin scored 11. Trey DePriest tallied nine, Jerry Cazares netted eight, Evan Sanders contributed four while Cory Turner, Lane Crites, Alex Talevera and Shane Thompson added two points apiece.
DeAngelo Griffin led the Indians with 13 points.
BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Rector. The Mustangs will begin Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament play Thursday night at 9:00. BIC will take on fourth seeded Westside at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro.
