Junior, Senior Lions fall in Gerald Jennings Tournament
Gosnell defeated Manila 60-44, ousting the Lions from the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament in senior boys basketball action. The junior Lions also fell in the tournament, dropping a 63-28 decision to Valley View.
Tre Howe scored 21 points while Richard Razor added 18 more in the Pirates win over the senior Lions.
Brady Jones scored 20 points to lead Manila while Scott Eubanks also hit double digits with 13 points. Dustin Sirmon scored five while Dylan Bogle and Zac Riley chipped in three points apiece.
Gosnell led 18-10 after the first quarter, 32-22 at the half and 45-30 after three periods of play.
In the junior high game, Adam Horn and Jagger Cornelius led Valley View with nine points apiece in their victory over the Lions.
Jake Helton led Manila with eight points. Matthew May scored seven, Gaige Edwards netted three, Miles Gifford, Rodney Laster, Brady Woodall, and Logan Hamilton scored two points apiece while Tyler Johnson and Timmy Smith added one point each.
The Lions will travel to Earle to take on the Bulldogs Tuesday night before playing host to Rivercrest Friday night in Manila.
