Jamey Carter, new DARE Officer

Deputy Jamey Carter with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department is the new DARE officer for area schools.

DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is a drug awareness program taken to the classrooms. Deputy Carter works with fifth grade students in five school districts on seven campuses including Riverside East and West and Buffalo Island Central East and West.

Deputy Carter started in August replacing DARE Officer Terry McNatt who has served the Eastern District for several years.

DARE started this year with a new curriculum.

Deputy Carter held his first DARE graduation on Friday on the Riverside West campus. He expressed his appreciation to all of the students, teachers and parents who help make the program such a success.

Deputy Carter has been with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department for six and a half years.
