Manila student wins card design competition
Hannah Mays, Manila sixth grade student, won the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) design a card contest sponsored by Casa and Ritter Communications.
Barbara McMorries, CASA advocate recruiter/trainer, came to Manila Elementary school Monday, Nov. 26, to personally congratulate the winner and present Hannah with her original card beautifully framed, along with copies of the Christmas cards with envelopes and a special tree ornament.
"This is the fourth year we have sponsored the design a card contest in elementary schools in Clay, Craighead, Mississippi, Greene, and Poinsett counties," McMorries said.
These five counties make up the 2nd Judicial District of CASA.
The top 10 cards from each participating school are sent to Ritter and one winner is chosen from each school.
The winning cards are made available on order.
"We appreciate all of the support we receive," McMorries said. "Designing the Christmas cards is one way to let the public know what we are about. We are always looking for volunteers to be the court's eyes and ears for children."
