Qualls' three pointer lifts BIC to fourth straight White County Tournament title

Cassidy Qualls drilled a three pointer with 30 seconds to go to propel the Lady Mustangs to their fourth consecutive White County Invitational Tournament championship with a 59-58 victory Saturday night over Pangburn.

BIC (13-1) was led in scoring by senior guard Brittany Fowler, who pumped in 22 points. Brittany Stockton and Emily Owens also notched double digits, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.

BIC began its path to the tournament title, defeating Des Arc 53-20. BIC placed 12 players in the scoring column, led by Fowler who scored eight. Madison Greathouse netted seven, Brittany Stockton scored six, Cidnie Brooks tallied five while Emily Owens, Taylor McKuin, Hannah Poe, Kandice Hodge and Megan Webster added four points apiece. Katelyn Sparkman netted three while Rachel Goldammer and Karo Thomas chipped in two points each to round out the scoring for the Lady Mustangs on the night.

BIC advanced to the finals with a come from behind 52-42 victory Thursday night over Bradford. The Lady Mustangs used a 17-2 third quarter surge to overcome a six point halftime deficit to claim the victory. Hannah Poe led BIC with 19 points while Madison Greathouse and Kandice Hodge added nine points apiece.

The Lady Mustangs also defeated Cross County 68-25 Monday night at the MAC. Kandice Hodge and Megan Webster scored eight points apiece to lead BIC. Rachel Goldammer tallied seven, Brittany Fowler and Cidnie Brooks netted six points each while Cassidy Qualls, Emily Owens and Bailey Owens added five points apiece. Brittany Stockton, Taylor McKuin, Hannah Poe and Shania Junyor all chipped in four points each while Karo Thomas added two points to round out the Lady Mustang attack.

BIC led 21-2 after the first period and 31-10 at the half. The Lady Mustangs held a 49-18 lead after three quarters of play.

In junior high action, BIC defeated Cross County 34-19. Blaire Wildy led BIC with 10 points while Ashley Field added nine.

The Lady Mustangs will return to action Monday night when they play host to East Poinsett County. BIC will also participate in the Paragould Classic beginning Dec. 6..
