A special called Caraway council meeting was held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, to discuss employee year-end bonuses.
Mayor Barry Riley asked the council to reconsider giving the city employees a bonus. Council members discussed selling city materials for scrap metal and apply the revenue to bonuses.
After a lengthy discussion the council unanimously voted to set employee bonuses at $400, with $1,200 being transferred from the general fund to water/sewer fund and $800 being transferred from the general fund to the street department fund to cover the department's bonuses. All money received from the sale of city materials is to be deposited in the city's general fund account.
