Miss. Co. producer meetings, pesticide applicator training dates

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

This year we are changing the format of our county production meetings.

Many of our producers and consultants have asked about variety/hybrid updates earlier than our normal production meeting times. Instead of a general production update, three variety/hybrid update meetings have been planned by the U of A, Division of Agriculture, Mississippi County Extension Service. In an effort to reduce travel for those interested in attending, the meetings will be held in three locations across the county.

The focus of the meetings will be variety/hybrid updates for corn, cotton, wheat, soybeans and rice. Many of you are purchasing seed to plant for next season. The informal discussion format set for these meetings should be beneficial to you in helping determine what technologies and varieties/hybrids to grow on your farm.

Additionally, the dates of our pesticide applicator trainings (PAT) have been set and are listed below.

For those who are collecting soil samples for analysis this year, the University of Arkansas Soil Testing Lab in Marianna will accept samples through Dec. 21.

Dec. 19, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Manila Airport Center.
