Bay's Tyson Oliver poured in a game high 33 points to lead the Yellowjackets to a 68-60 victory over Riverside in senior boys basketball Monday night at Bay.
Oliver drained five three pointers on the night as the Yellowjackets defeated the Rebels for the second time this season. Dylan Loven added 16 for Bay, who hit nine three pointers as a team. Bay led 18-10 after the first period and took a 38-27 halftime lead. The Yellowjackets held a 54-43 advantage entering the final quarter of play.
Logan Meurer pumped in 25 points to lead the Rebels while Caleb Waugh drilled five three pointers and finished with 18 points for Riverside. Kollin Stone scored six, Jacob Jordan tallied four, Dylan Wright and Ben Hensley netted three points apiece while Brock Adams added one. The Rebels hit 10 three pointers on the evening and finished 12-17 from the foul line.
Bay won the junior high game 46-33 behind Jonathan Crain's 24 point performance. Taylor Layne also hit double digits, scoring 10 points for the Yellowjackets.
Dylan Davis led Riverside with 11 points. Braden Overman scored seven, Luke Baker tallied six, Gavin Stone netted five while Andrew Murdie and Cannon Walling added two points apiece.
The Rebels bounced back Tuesday night with a 62-36 victory over Black Rock at Lake City. Dylan Wright recorded a double-double for Riverside, scoring 15 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. The Rebels (7-4, 1-1 2A-3) were led in scoring by Caleb Waugh's 16 points. Logan Meurer added 13 while Kollin Stone pulled down 10 rebounds.
Gavin Stone poured in 26 points to lead Riverside's junior boys to a 58-29 victory over the Zebras. The win improves the Rebels' record to 9-5.
Riverside defeated Sloan Hendrix 68-48 in the opening round of the Williams Baptist College Tournament Saturday at Walnut Ridge. The Rebels will continue play in the tournament this week. Riverside will also travel to Rector Tuesday night for a 2A-3 conference tilt against the Cougars.
The Lady Rebels hammered Black Rock 64-27 Monday night at Black Rock. Kenzley Wilson led the Rebels with 22 points to go along with seven steals and seven assists. Ashlyn Snyder scored 12 while Catlyn Sailor added 11 points. Sailor also had eight steals and seven rebounds. Anna Brickell scored seven, Natalie Milligan tallied six, Kaitlyn Hale chipped in four while Susan Sailor added two.
Christian Ervin led the Lady Zebras with 14 points.
Riverside led 17-6 after the first period and stretched its lead to 38-13 by the half. The Lady Rebels took a commanding 52-19 lead into the final period of play.
In junior high action, Black Rock rallied past Riverside 29-28 in overtime. Riverside led 5-2 after the first quarter and 16-7 at the half. The Lady Rebels took a 20-16 edge into the final frame before Black Rock rallied to tie the game 26-26 at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime, where the Zebras outscored Riverside 3-2 to claim the win.
Skylar Kauke led Riverside with 13 points. Madison Black scored eight, Britany Kelems netted four, McKenna Beach tallied two while Hannah Fisher added one point for the Lady Rebels.
Erica Bass led Black Rock with 13 points.
The Lady Rebels will begin play in the Gerald Jennings Tournament this week and will travel to Rector Monday night for a conference game against the Lady Cougars.
