Buffalo Island Central picked up a pair of victories in a holiday shortened week of basketball action. The Mustangs knocked off McCrory 54-43 Monday night on the road before downing Midland 65-57 Tuesday night at Monette.
BIC (7-6, 1-2 2A-3) got a big night from Austin Pike to defeat the Jaguars while picking up their first conference win of the season. Pike pumped in 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Mustangs to the win. Nick Bollinger had 11 points while Dilynn Strickland added 10 points and six assists. Jacob Sanders and Alan Carmichael added two points apiece.
Shyheim Woods led McCrory with 22 points.
The Mustangs rallied past Midland with a strong second half performance, outscoring the visitors 45-25 to pick up their second victory of the week. Jacob Sanders led BIC with 23 points while Austin Pike added 22 more. Dilynn Strickland scored 10 while Nick Bollinger grabbed 11 boards.
Brayden Emerson and Drew Fortson scored 13 and 10 points respectively to lead Midland.
In junior high action, BIC defeated McCrory 62-31. The Mustangs (11-4, 2-0 2A-3) put three players in double figures, led by Ryan Austin's 12 points. Dustyn Myers and Jerry Cazares followed closely with 11 and 10 points respectively. Trey DePriest had nine, Cory Turner scored eight, Dax Hurst tallied five, Evan Sanders netted three while Trevor Couch and Alex Talevera added two points apiece.
Kaigen Rogo led the Jaguars with 16 points.
BIC will return to the hard court this week when they participate in the White County Invitational Tournament. The Mustangs will also play host to Cross County Tuesday night in a 2A-3 conference tilt.
The Lady Mustangs rolled to a 64-32 victory over Midland. Twelve Lady Mustangs scored, led by Emily Owens' 12 points. Brittany Fowler recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists.
BIC will return to action this week in the White County Invitational Tournament. The Lady Mustangs will also play host to Cross County Monday night.
