Sheila Collier releases new CD
Sheila Collier of Leachville has released her latest CD, "I Wanna Know How It Feels." She loves gospel music and has sung in churches most all her life. She did sing with a local quartet, "Saved By Grace."
She and her husband, Rick, started Collier Ministries about four years ago and she sings and brings other gospel singers to the Melody Theater in Leachville once a month, the second Saturday of each month.
They do not do it for a personal profit or gain, but to share and proclaim Christ through word, song and deed. Most concerts they do are free and only a love offering is taken for the singers. They also have local sponsors. They rent the Melody once a month. When they bring in professional groups they do sell tickets.
She is very pleased with her new CD which was produced by the well known musician/singer Gordon Mote, formerly with the Gaithers. The CD was produced at Beech Creek Studio, in Brentwood, Tenn.
The CD was officially released at Gordon Mote's concert at the Melody Theater on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Sheila Collier met Gordon Mote when she was part of the opening singers at a concert he was doing in Bragadocia, Mo. She is very grateful to have him help her with the CD. Mote played the piano and organ and sang vocals on the CD. Other Vocalists included Kimberly Mote, Charlotte Ritchie, Reggie Smith and Ladye Love Smith. Other musicians include Duncan Mullins on the bass, Kelly Back on the electric guitar, Bryan Sutton on the acoustic guitar mandolin, violin, Scotty Sanders on the steel guitar Aubrey Haynie on the fiddle and Steve Brewster on the drums. Nathan Zwald was the engineer and the photography and graphic design was by Larry Sanders of Germantown, Tenn.
Sheila Collier has a dedication that reads, "My prayer is that this message in song will bring comfort or make a change in someone's life. I prayed for the Lord to use me for His Glory and Honor, and I believe this is an answer to that prayer."
She dedicated the project to the memory of her dad, Thomas Kirk and in honor of her mother, Sarah Kirk.
"Being raised in church and a Christian home has given me a firm foundation of faith and love that has guided me, and will continue to guide me through life," she said.
She thanked everyone who had a part in the CD and her family and friends for their support.
The Colliers have two children, Matthew (Jennifer) Collier of Manila, and Alysha (Chad) Fletcher of Tupelo, Miss., and four grandchildren.
Matthew is pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Manila and teaches at Manila High School.
Sheila Collier is employed at Southworth, Inc. in Manila.
Featured Songs on the CD include, "I Need You More Today," "The Potter Knows the Clay," "God on the Mountain," "How You Walk the Miles," "The Other Side of Grace," "Praise His Name, "Above and Beyond," "I've Made up My Mind," "I'm Free," and the title song, "I Wanna Know How It Feels."
