Marmaduke nips Rebels at buzzer

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Riverside traveled to Marmaduke to open the conference season Tuesday night and led most of the game. But in the end, it was the Greyhounds who came out on top with a heart stopping 60-59 victory over the Rebels.

Riverside held a 17-11 lead after the opening period and took a 33-25 advantage into the dressing room at the half. The Rebels held a 47-42 lead entering the final quarter, before the Greyhounds rallied for the one point win.

Riverside clung to a one point lead when, with 10 seconds left, Marmaduke's Kasey Reagans grabbed a missed Rebel free throw, drove the length of the floor before finding teammate Eddie Page with the game winning lay-up just before the final buzzer sounded.

Page led the Greyhounds with 20 points while Hayden Winberry scored 18 points, including five second half three pointers. Reagans added 10 more.

Alteeno Sain led Riverside with 15 points while Logan Meurer added 14.

In junior high action, Riverside blasted the Greyhounds 65-28. Gavin Stone blistered the nets with a game high 33 points, including a whopping 10 three pointers. Luke Baker scored six, Braden Overman and Dylan Austin had five points apiece, Brandon Towery tallied four while Andrew Murdie, Dylan Davis, Blake Hall and Grant Mason chipped in three points each. The Rebels finished the night with 16 three pointers.
