Manila outscored Riverside 28-14 in the fourth quarter to roar from behind, defeating the Rebels 75-62, in senior high basketball action Friday night at Manila.
Riverside led after each of the first three quarters in building a 48-47 lead heading into the final frame. Brady Jones, who led all scorers with 23 points, pumped in 14 in the fourth period to help rally the Lions to the victory. Scott Eubanks followed closely behind Jones with a 22 point performance, while Dustin Sirmon drained three treys on the night and finished with 13 points.
The victory improves Manila to 2-0 under new coach Lee Wimberley.
Riverside (5-2) was led by Logan Meurer's 21 points while Alteeno Sain added 20 more. Dylan Wright chipped in 11.
Riverside nipped Manila 51-50 to take the junior high game.
The Rebels began the week with a 58-48 victory over Ridgefield Christian Tuesday night at Lake City. Caleb Waugh poured in 20 points to lead Riverside while Alteeno Sain recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Kollin Stone added 10 points while Dylan Wright pulled down 12 boards.
Gavin Stone scored 11 points to lead Riverside to a 50-18 victory over Ridgefield Christian.
Riverside returns to action Tuesday night when they travel to Marmaduke before hosting Buffalo Island Central Friday night at Lake City.
Riverside's Lady Rebels fell to Weiner 55-42 Monday night at Lake City. Allegra Melton and Kaci Mack combined for 38 points to lead the Lady Cardinals to the win. Lauren Weaver recorded a double-double, scoring 24 points while grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Rebels.
Weiner took the junior high contest 39-32.
The Lady Rebels journey to Marmaduke Monday night to take on the Lady Greyhounds before hosting BIC Thursday night at Lake City.
