The annual pancake supper was one of the topics discussed at the Manila Lions club meeting Wednesday, Oct. 24. The Lions meet each Wednesday at the Manila Elementary School at noon.
The pancake supper is a Christmas tradition held in conjunction with the Manila Christmas parade, which will be held this year Saturday, Dec. 1. Lions will serve pancakes starting at 5 p.m. and continue until after the parade giving spectators and participants the opportunity to enjoy homemade pancakes. The event is held at the Manila school cafeteria.
Tickets are available from any Lion member or at the door.
Proceeds from the pancake supper go to help with the Goodfellow baskets distributed by Lion members. Last year over 100 baskets were delivered throughout the Manila area.
The Lions heard a financial report on the annual Big Lake Chili Cook-off held Oct. 6. As of this date, the event netted $2,000.
Lion Tracey Reinhart said it was successful. It is a good event for the community. A 5K run and duck calling competition were added to this year's event.
"I have not heard any negative comments," Reinhart said.
