Irene Dobbins Thompson, 78, of Blytheville passed from this life Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at her home.
Born in Pocahontas, Ark., to Austin and Bertha Jones Dobbins, Irene attended Milligan Ridge Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Irene retired from Thompson Plumbing where she was a bookkeeper. She enjoyed working in her garden and growing roses but her greatest joy in life was being a devoted mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thompson and brother, Charles "Sallee" Dobbins.
Irene is survived by her children, Robert Thompson of West Point, Miss., Frances Nelson, Karen Glasscock and her granddaughter raised in the home, Jane Lunsford, all of Blytheville; grandchildren, Johnny, Silvia, Jane, Mallory, Abbey, Tyler and Conrad; great grandchildren, Maranda, Alyssa, Skylar, Natalie, Lauren and Tate; brothers, Eugene Dobbins and wife, Imogene and Glen Dobbins, both of Manila, Ark., and Lenn Dobbins and wife, Margaret of Blytheville, Ark.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby McDaniel officiating with entombment to follow in the Dogwood Mausoleum in Dogwood Cemetery.
