The Manila Christmas Parade committee announced the 2012 parade theme will be "A Patriotic Christmas." All veterans will be honored and are encouraged to be special guests at this year's parade. Veterans will walk or ride behind the ROTC marchers. The oldest veteran will serve as the grand marshal.

Sherry Bunch Pratt said floats, bands, four-wheelers, horses, walkers, motorcycles, and all groups are encouraged to participate in the red, white, and blue patriotic Christmas parade. The parade will be begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

Line-up will begin at 5 p.m. near the city park along Lake Street. In case of inclement weather the alternate date will be Monday, Dec. 3.

"There will be lots of American flags and we especially want our veterans to participate and be honored," Pratt said. "We hope to have veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, along with all of the other veterans who have served our country in peace time."
