Buffalo Island School Board fills positions

Members of the Buffalo Island Central School Board filled several positions at the regular meeting held Monday, Sept. 10.

The board voted unanimously to hire Kendra Hawkins -- kindergarten East elementary and Micah Browning as special needs aide (on an as needed basis) at West elementary. They also accepted the resignation of Flora Thomas, gym custodian-East.

Following a review of the financial statements and warrant listings, the board approved the athletic budget for fiscal year 2013.

The board approved the grant proposal to obtain 30 Ipads filed by Shelly Hurst.

Each building principal presented information concerning various student populations, achievement and enrollment numbers.

The total overall enrollment at BIC in pre-K through high school is 835.

The board approved a transfer request for Wes Lancaster, 16, to Manila.

A maternity leave was approved for elementary teacher Jae Glass.

The impact of increasing operating cost and declining enrollment on district finances were discussed.
