Taking runner-up title was Matt Baker.

Trey, an eighth grade student at Buffalo Island Central Junior High, has been playing golf most of his life. This was his first time to compete in the Big Lake Club Tournament.

His name has been added to the board (started in 1965) of club champions. Trey, 13, is the youngest to win the tournament. He is the son of Thomas and Candie DePriest.

Trey and his parents have had a busy year. Trey started this year's golf by being named player of the year in the US JGT Jr. Golf Tour in Tennessee.

Trey shot a 146, winning sixth in the BFI (Future Tour Championship) held in Greenville, Miss.

He was the qualifier in the Pine Bluff Optimist Jr. Golf tournament with a 68. He represented Arkansas in the tournament held at Palm Beach, Fla., in July.

He came in runner-up in the Pepsi Little People Tournament with a two-day score of 147 only one shot under the winner. It was held in Quincy, Ill.

Trey was accepted into the Press Thorton Future Masters in Dothan, Ala., at the end of June. He said that was an experience. The hurricane did not come ashore but it did bring in some rain and strong winds the golfers had to contend with.

He played at Millington this past weekend with the USJGT and will play in North Creek, Oct. 20-21 in Southhaven, Miss.; Germantown Country Club Oct. 27-28; and a tournament in tunica Nov. 3-4.

Trey will go from the golf season into basketball season with the BIC Jr. Mustangs.

In addition to golf and basketball, Trey is an honor student and is a member of the BIC Quiz Bowl Team. The BIC Jr. High Quiz Bowl Team won third place in Regional and third place in State last year.

"We were only 10 points down last year," Trey said. "We are looking forward to another good year."
