Earnie Gene Walling, 72, of Lepanto, was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Bethesda, Ark., and departed from this life Aug. 29, 2012, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; his parents, L.D. and Lorene Walling; one brother, Jimmy Walling; one sister, Bonnie Smallwood; one great-grandson, Grayson Hill; and one great-great granddaughter, Jaylein White.

He is survived by by one daughter, Sandra McCammon and husband Johnny of Caraway; brother, Johnny Walling and wife Sandra of Lepanto; grandsons, Jamie Hill and wife Christie of Paragould, Earnie Hill and wife Amy of Lepanto; granddaughters, Ashley Hill of Caraway, Courtney Luff and husband Allen of Monette, Brittany McCammon of Caraway; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a retired self-employed truck driver as well as a retired volunteer fireman for the Lepanto Fire Department. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Red Oak Baptist Church.

Visitation was Saturday from 6-8 p.m. in Murphy Funeral Home, Lepanto. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Mark Constant officiating.

Pallbearers were Jared Wyaltt, Brandon Furtenberry, Zack Story, Nathan Brooks, Greg Constant and Troy Brooks.

Honorary pallbearers were Gene Winebaugh, Jim Pinkston and David Tyler.

Burial was in Potter Memorial Cemetery.
