Mary Emma Pierce

Mary Emma Pierce, 92, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born May 14, 1920, at Marion, Ill., to the late Charles and Myrtle DeGolyer. Mrs. Pierce was a homemaker and elementary school teacher in her earlier years. She and her husband ran a store for 12 years in the Gibson Switch area. She loved to read and crochet. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by a son, Ronald Joe Pierce of Jonesboro; a brother, Ralph DeGolyer of Monette and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Pierce; a daughter, Terry Charline Pierce; a son, David Pierce; two sisters, Stella Faye Williams and Rose Dolly Degolyer; two brothers, Rex DeGolyer and Bobby Lee DeGolyer.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2317 W. Washington Ave in Jonesboro with Elroy Tesch officiating.

The arrangements were entrusted to Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
