Eddie Dunigan of Black Oak announces plans to seek Position 4 on the Buffalo Island Central School Board.

Dunigan taught school for 39 years, 31 of those years in the Buffalo Island Central District. He retired from teaching at the end of the 2012 school year.

He has lived in Black Oak all his life. He is married to the former Deb Whitley. They both graduated from the district. Their four children also graduated from BIC School District. The Dunigans have eight grandchildren. Six of their grandchildren are enrolled in the BIC School District and the other two will enroll when they reach school age.

"I know the education system from the inside and out," Dunigan said. "I have always strived to put the children of this community first and would like to continue doing so. The future of our community is the youth and I want to provide them with the best education experience possible."

The school board election will be held Sept. 18 with early voting beginning Sept. 11.
