Lake City Council approves new firemen

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Mayor Jon Milligan asked the Lake City council to consider three new volunteer firemen for the Lake City Fire Department on the recommendation of Fire chief Chris Snyder during the July 23 meeting. The three recommendations were Brian Wells, Morgan Walling, and Randy Robbins. The motion was approved unanimously.

Council members present included Harold Barker, Tommy Eakins, Ann Dais, Jeffery Wisham, Danny Dunigan and Brenda Hutcheson. Also present was City Clerk Linda Simpson.

The council passed Ordinance No. 259-12 after the second and third reading by title only. The ordinance was for the purpose of adopting the City of Lake City Tree Ordinance.

Council also accepted unanimously the request from Dennis Holden to dedicate Bart Street to the City of Lake City.

Mayor Milligan asked the council to give their opinion after reviewing material given at the last meeting on Legacy Consulting. After some discussion, it was decided to move forward pursuing a contract.

Mayor Milligan told council members the cemetery entrance was being prepared to be bricked and fenced when funds allowed. There will be two large entrance brick walls, lettered in the walls will be "Lake City Memorial Cemetery," and 15 brick posts on each side going north and south with black fencing between the posts.
