Manila council accepts resolution for airport grant
Manila City Council met Monday, July 2, in a special meeting and passed a resolution to accept an airport grant.
Manila Mayor Wayne Wagner, along with council members Larry "Whiz" Davis, Linda Donovin, Jason Baltimore, Donnie Wagner, and Tony Hawkins were present.
The purpose of the meeting was to review and act on a resolution accepting a grant from FAA for the Manila Municipal Airport.
City Attorney Wes Wagner read the resolution and the council voted unanimously to accept it.
The grant is part of ongoing work at the airport. It is in the amount of $64,848 and will be used for resurfacing.
Mayor Wagner said the council should have the final sketches of the swimming pool for the next meeting. He encouraged anyone interested in jobs, including lifeguards or a manager's position, to come by city hall for an application. He wants lifeguards trained and ready when the pool opens next year.
Mayor Wagner said he would have bids for Building 100, the ball field, and renovations to the old pool house available at the next regular meeting.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 16.
