Five Northeast Arkansas residents received special awards last month at the Southwest Regional National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) conference in Kansas City, Kan. They were Amber Rolland, Cory Wood, Keith Boles, Dr. Kima Stewart and Barbara Suber.
NAHRO scholarship winners were Amber Rolland and Cory Wood of Monette, 2012 graduates of Buffalo Island Central High School. Rolland will be attending the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, and Wood plans to attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Keith Boles is a video journalist for KAIT-TV in Jonesboro and received the Southwest Regional NAHRO Media Recognition Award for his outstanding promoting of the Monette Housing Authority food pantry and backpack program.
Stewart is Buffalo Island Central West Elementary Principal in Monette. She was awarded the regional NAHRO Special Achievement Award for support of MHA programs and as a main partner resource and supporter in meeting the needs of residents and their families.
Suber is the Executive Director of the MHA in Monette and was awarded the Arkansas Member of the Year Award and a Southwest Regional NAHRO endorsing the state selection. Suber has served as MHA Director since 1980 and has been honored locally, statewide and nationally for excellence of service to the community.
