Ms. Glena Gammil enjoys sharing her precious memories with Wendy Carpenter, activity director at Monette Manor.

"It's absolutely amazing what you can learn about a person when you sit and listen to their stories and view their pictures," Ms. Carpenter said. It's like you are reliving an era of the past."

Ms. Gammil was born and raised in the Monette/Childress area. She is 82 years old and currently living at Monette Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Monette.

She made the decision to sell her old home place and two acres of ground located in Craighead County on County Road 518 north of Monette.

Wes Cornish, his wife, Lori, and their two children wanted to purchase the property from Ms. Gammil but she insisted on meeting the entire family. After talking with the family she decided her home would be the perfect place for the Cornish family. Lori promised to bring Ms. Gammil's personal items that could be salvaged from the home.

Ms. Cornish volunteered her mother-in-law to cook Ms. Gammil a pie made from the fruit trees. As promised, Lori delivered a tub of pictures, memory books, and bibles.

The activity department at Monette Manor organized Ms. Gammil's pictures and documents in a photo album. She chose pictures dearest to her heart and they were placed in a collage picture frame above her bed.
