Buffalo Island Central's Lady Mustangs plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on to beat Bigelow 5-2 Saturday afternoon at Junction City. The win propels BIC into the Class 2A State Championship game where they will meet Junction City Saturday morning at Lady Razorback Field in Fayetteville.

Saturday's victory improved BIC's record to 24-2 on the season, in stark contrast to last year when the Lady Mustangs managed just three wins. "From three wins a year ago to 24 this season, it's been an amazing year," said BIC Coach Marty Williford. "It's been a great ride. Hopefully we have one more victory left in us."

Brittany Fowler was the Lady Mustang's hitting star in Saturday's semifinal win, belting her first two career home runs while going 3-4 on the day. Fowler finished with three RBIs and scored twice. Fowler put BIC ahead 2-1 with her second solo shot of the day in the sixth inning, but Bigelow came right back with a run in their half of the sixth to tie the game 2-2.

The Lady Mustangs' three run seventh inning rally was highlighted by RBI singles off the bats of Owens and Fowler. Brooks drove in the final run of the inning before Greathouse shut down Bigelow in the bottom of the seventh, sending the Lady Mustangs to the state finals.
