The presentation of the award will take place during the Adviser Recognition Session at the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., on July 11.
Smith has been teaching for almost 30 years. She taught three and a half years at Missco and came to Manila when the two school annexed.
The award is presented to a current chapter adviser of FCCLA who integrates one or more core academic subjects (language arts, mathematics, social studies, science) into Family and Consumer Sciences education and/or projects and activities.
Nominees were judged based active affiliated FCCLA chapter; examples of integration of core academics into FACS coursework and FCCLA projects and activities; presentations and efforts to share techniques with other teachers and advisers; public relations efforts to increase awareness of integration of academics; three letters of recommendation; and overall presentation of application.
