Polston has been making unique Relay for Life duck calls each year for the last five or six years. This year's call is inscribed with Relay 2012 and features a shotgun, flying duck, and a Razorback carved into the call. Each call he donated to the Relay has been created especially for the event.
In addition to the calls Polston makes, this is the second year for him to sell handmade calls made by some well known duck call makers he has met at different duck calling events.
Last year a duck call on E-Bay which was made and donated by John Paul Reinsch from Montana brought $270. Again, this year Mr. Reinsch sold another one for the 2012 Relay bringing another $270.
"I am so appreciative of these guys for thinking of us on Buffalo Island," Polston said.
This year Polston met Danny Bignar of Duback, La., at a duck calling event in Louisiana. Bignar has made and donated a duck call for Polston to sell on E-Bay with the proceeds going to the Buffalo Island Relay for Life.
Polston enjoys making the calls for Relay for Life and is happy to have met others who enjoy making calls for a worthy cause.
Polston said he was honored to be able to serve as a judge at the Louisiana Duck Calling Association.
Brenda Matheny, chairman for the Buffalo Island Relay for Life, expressed her appreciation to Polston for his support to the Relay.
The Relay for Life event will be held on June 22 at the Leachville City Park.
