Manila advanced to the finals of the 3A-3 Regional Baseball Tournament with an 8-4 victory over Corning Saturday afternoon at Tuckerman. The victory sends the Lions to the championship game against Rivercrest, who downed host Tuckerman 9-1 in an earlier semifinal contest.
Brady Jones (6-1) struck out 16 Bobcats in picking up the pitching victory for the Lions. Jones went the distance on the mound, allowing only two earned runs while scattering six hits and issuing four walks.
Jones helped himself at the plate, going 2-3, including a double. The junior also drove in a pair of runs and scored three times. Jordan Goff had a pair of singles and an RBI while Blake Carr went 2-3 and drove in a run.
Manila (15-5) began the tournament with an 8-2 victory over Valley Springs Friday afternoon.
Zach Reinhart picked up the pitching victory with a complete game performance. Reinhart (5-3) fanned eight Tigers while giving up six hits on the day. Reinhart also had a pair of hits and drove in four runs to help his cause.
Caleb Reinhart had a pair of hits, stole two bases and scored three times while Dillon Burrow finished with two singles while scoring a run and stealing one base.
