BIC School Board gets good 2011 audit

The Buffalo Island Central School Board got a report of a good audit report with no corrective actions necessary dated June 30, 2011. The regular meeting was held on Monday, April 16, in the Superintendent's office.

Following a review of the audit, the financial statement, and the approval of the minutes, the board accepted several resignations, filled positions and made reassignments.

Resignations of John Rowlett, junior high special education Brand Ivy, junior high special education; Linda Craig, 4-6 reading, east elementary; Phyllis McFarland, elementary counselor, east and west elementary; and Kristyn Smith, instrumental music, were accepted by a vote of 4-0.

The board voted unanimously to hire Jae Glass for 4-6 language, east elementary and Matthew Sills 4-6 reading, east elementary.

Reassignments included Shelly Hurst to junior high/east elementary library; Nancy Spencer to junior high English; and Lisa Parker to remediation.

Nathan Sanders moved to offer the position of Athletic Trainer, Bus Route Driver, and ISS Monitor to Blake Davis. The motion carried 5-0.

Student transfers, Kalli Shasteen, 6, to Riverside; Lane Cohn, 16, to Nettleton, were approved unanimously.

Board member Darrin McFall moved to appoint Mr. Stacey Thomas to the board position vacated by Mr. Terry Edwards. Board member John Field seconded the motion that passed unanimously.

The board approved the calendar option 2 for the 2012-13 school year as selected by school employees.

Administrative reports included:

*Facility needs outlook for the district.

*Recognition of student groups for recent achievements.

*Salary increases for classified and certified employees for 2011-12.

*Prospects for an area for FFA animals.
