Manila swept past three conference foes last week to improve their record to 7-5 overall while upping their league mark to 5-4 in 3A-3 conference baseball action.
The Lions began the week with a 13-6 victory Monday afternoon at Piggott. Manila used a nine run fifth inning to blow the game open against the Mohawks.
The Lions had four players post multiple hit games.Dillon Burrow went 3-5 at the plate and drove in four runs, scored twice and stole a pair of bases. Trey Walker banged out four hits and drove in two runs while Brady Jones had a double and a triple with four RBIs and three runs scored. Caleb Reinhart added a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
Zach Reinhart (2-3) went the distance to earn the victory on the hill for the Lions. Reinhart fanned six Mohawks and scattered five hits on the day.
Manila knocked off Tuckerman 9-2 Thursday afternoon at Manila. The Lions erupted for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put the game out of reach.
Manila and Tuckerman were tied 1-1 at the end of four but the Lions pushed across three runs in the fifth before adding five more in the eighth to break the game open.
Manila hurler Brady Jones pitched a complete game to earn the win. Jones (3-1) allowed only one earned run on five hits. The junior right hander struck out seven while issuing four walks.
Jones helped himself at the plate with a double and a homerun while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Caleb Reinhart went 3-4 with a run scored. Alex Richard had a pair of hits and scored twice while Trey Walker added two hits and two RBIs.
Manila closed the week with a 6-2 victory at Harrisburg Friday afternoon. Blake Carr (2-1) went the distance to pick up the complete game victory for the Lions. Carr struck out five Hornets while issuing one walk. The senior right hander gave up two runs and allowed six hits.
Zach Reinhart went 3-4 at the plate while Blake Miller had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Trey Walker was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Caleb Reinhart also had a pair of hits and scored a run while Jordan Goff blasted a two-run homer to round out Manila's offensive attack.
The Lady Lions split a pair of games with Corning Friday afternoon at Manila. The Lady Bobcats took the opener 10-2 before Manila bounced back to take the nightcap 3-1.
Kristen Wise took the loss in the opener while Shelby Wallace earned the victory in the second game. Wallace allowed just two hits while striking out one and walking one.
Kailen Shelton led the Manila offense in game two with a pair of hits while Brianna Stone and Kirsten Adcock added an RBI each.
The Lady Lions began the week dropping a doubleheader to Rivercrest. The Lady Colts (18-6, 8-0 3A-3) won the opener 5-3 and completed the sweep with a 10-5 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.
Micalah Beall got the win in both games for the Lady Colts. Beall struck out eight while allowing just one earned run on three hits in the first game. Beall came on in relief in game two to pick up the win, striking out six while allowing no hits in four innings of work.
Deven Burrow had a hit and two RBIs while Kailen Shelton added an RBI single for the Lady Lions.
