Marla Layne honored at Monette Manor
It was Marla Layne Day at Monette Manor on Tuesday as she was recognized in conjunction with Long-time Care Administrator's Week.
Staff surprised Layne with a cake, framed picture, balloons, punch, and money tree.
The Senior Bee dancers entertained during the celebration. Residents and staff thanked Layne for all she does Monette Manor. She has served as administrator for 12 years.
A large cake centered the table honoring Layne with the words "Our Administrator Shines like a Diamond."
"I'm shocked and surprised," Layne said. "I want to thank all of you. We have a wonderful staff here and our volunteers help make it a great place for our residents."
Staff served cake and punch to all of the residents and guests.
Layne did call her staff "sneaky" as they planned the party, invited her husband, Skip, and set up the table, all behind her back.
"Monette Manor is a special place to me," Layne said. "It is a big part of my life."
"This was a very nice surprise," she said.
