Manila resident Mindy Simpson recently traveled to Magness Lake near Heber Springs with her camera in hopes of capturing a photograph of the trumpeter swans she had read about. The trumpeter swans have been wintering at Lake Magness for 18 years. It now has the largest wintering population of trumpeter swans in the Southeastern U.S. The trumpeter swans are the largest waterfowl species native to North America. They can usually be found at Magness Lake beginning in late November to early March.

Mindy said she was fortunate to get several great pictures.
