Troop 42 salutes new Senior Patrol leader

On Feb. 15, during a brief ceremony Leachville Boy Scout Troop 42 Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) position was transferred from Life Scout Shannon Sparkman to First Class Scout Hunter Smith.

Scoutmaster Joe Hultquist, explained that SPL is the highest leadership position held by youth in the troop. The position along with other youth leadership posts, are rotated every six months so that every scout has an opportunity to experience the challenges of leadership.

Additional postings were: Alan Woessner to Assistant Senior Patrol leader and Chaplain, Evan Long to a successive tour as Quartermaster, Shannon Sparkman to Scribe, and Gage Cloninger to Patrol Leader.

The new leadership will face dual challenges in preparing spring camporee 2012 and Summer Camp June 17 thru 23 at Camp Rockefeller.
