Cobb family establishes scholarship for a Riverside student

The Roland and Pat Cobb family of Lake City has announced a scholarship of $1,000 per year to be awarded to a Riverside High School senior.

The award will be given in memory of Kenneth Cobb and Melinda Love Cobb. Kenneth was a 1976 graduate of Lake City High School. He was a business education major from Arkansas State University. He taught at Parkin High School, Crawfordsville High School and Marion High School.

Melinda was a 1977 graduate from Lake City High School. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science in education. She was also a National Board Certified teacher. Melinda taught science at Buffalo Island High School, Riverside High School, Crowley Ridge Academy and Jonesboro (Annie Camp) until her death.

This scholarship is funded by the Cobb Family Memorial Fund, an endowment fund established in 2012.

Application forms can be picked up from the school counselor. They must be returned by March 30.
